Life Lessons Learned Through Publishing

It has been my personal quest to get my novel published since 2007. I have checked many different publishers and some denied me because of the content; some I rejected because of rights, royalties and other issues. Out of all this time I have learned several things and I am grateful for the journey:

  • One of the most important things I have learned is to be persistent and NEVER give up. If your heart and spirit wants you to do something, keep at it and you will see results in time; after all "patience is a virtue."
  • Another important lesson I learned, which I consider a life lesson is that people are not supportive and know nothing of the publishing process. They become negative and actually will attempt to tear you down because they don't SEE the results. Not only do they have their own negativity but they try to channel it to you. Sad but very true.
  • I would say one of the most crucial lessons I have learned is that, outside of my mother and one other person, is to not keep people informed as far as my creative pursuits are concerned. I see why most authors and other talents do not inform people what they are doing or working on. Not only can people be unsupportive but now they pretend to be doing the same thing as you simply to antagonize you. Other people will try to pick apart your work because their lack of self confidence and because of their failed success.

  • As a result I learned that as long as I believe in me then that's all that matters. I have become strong and resilient because of negative people and they give me the drive I need to believe even more so in me. While they thought they were tearing me down they didn't realize how they were actually building me up. Thank you every one especially the people who resisted against the idea and my capabilities... Keep in mind "What you resist WILL persist." (C.G. Jung)

AT THIS POINT I AM PROUD TO SAY THAT MY BOOK WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE IN APRIL. =0)
