Veteran's Day

Veteran's Day is a national holiday in America where America honors those veterans who have served in their military. This year Veterans Day is to be observed by most businesses and governmental places in America on the 12th day of November despite the fact that the holiday is on the 11th.

The idea of the holiday began in 1919 and was originally called Armistice Day. "President Wilson proclaimed November 11 as the first commemoration of Armistice Day with the following words: "To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service." It was not until 1938 that it was legally accepted as a legal holiday.

As time progressed and more wars were fought the act was amended several times changing the holiday to represent what we knowit to be today: A day to celebrate and honor all veterans in America.
HAPPY VETERANS DAY!
