Today's Music

Today's music has changed drastically in the matter of a decade or so. Artist used to go into the studio with an actual message to deliver. Rappers like Kanye, Jay Z, Eminem and even the late greats like Tupac and Biggy all had a message and a lesson to their songs.

Now-a-days it seems all I hear is junk. To many male artists are always talking about sexing females, abusing women or even the abuse of substance.

Artist like Nikki Minaj has lyrics where she insults herself by calling her own self a cunt just to rhyme with the words punt and being on the hunt. I think this is ridiculous. She is not the only artist who does this it's just I have a teen in my life who  listens to Nikki's music religously and I can't help but hear all of the negativity behind too many of Ms. Nikki Minaj's lyrics.

Then there is Drake and a whole slew of others that constantly speak of sex and broken hearts on their tracks. Then we wonder why pregnancy rates are so high and 12 year olds want to date...
Wasn't Drake on Degrassi, so now all the Nickelodeon kids are into Drake...great.. It's funny how he talks about soap opera rappers and he is from a soap opera; now we are being hypocrits on the track. Maybe teen drama's are not soap opera's to other people but it is to me. Same concept just younger people!

The worse part is these people are who our children idolize and then we wonder why today's youth behave the way they do and have the problems they do.

The safest thing a parent can or should do is filter and monitor your kids music listening and listen to their music so you can correct and wrong messages the lyrics may be sending.
