Everyone is aware of the famous Puerto Rican Day Parade and Dominicans Day Parade. For some reason I am finding that there are alot of people who don't know that there is and African American Day Parade...
A Parade where BLACK AMERICANS (black people who were BORN here and whose fathers, fathers, fathers were slaves here) celebrate their existance, culture and history in the American society. This parade was established in the Spring of 1968 and runs through the course of Harlem.
My question is why is this parade not publicized the way television networks do the Puerto Rican, Carribean and other parades?
Maybe it's because then White-America and other cultures will be faced with learning, re-learning and accepting the horrific history that ties Black Americans to this country.
I think that Black Americans are over shadowed because at this point we are just like White Americans but with black skin..Most white people and black people from America share the same blood because of all the slave masters who breeded with our grandmothers, mothers, mothers... When the black slave had a white baby the baby was removed and treated as a white and lived in that society as a white. They were raised to hate their own kind. Some black babies were removed to service other farms but they were still treated as slaves.
Then you have to ponder is there a White American day parade, as a matter of fact why are we seperating the kinds of Americans in America???
Most likely to further fuel future injustices and segregation.
