People always ask me how I stay so fit and why am I abble to work out consistently and I beleive the truth is because of Yoga. There were times before when I hated my workouts because they were so tiresome and at time strenuous. I no longer have those issues because I am a yogi or a person who practices Yoga; for the most part I have yet to explore the spirituality side Yoga although I have read alot about it and it intrigues me. In my personal journey with Yoga it has been a part of my regular workout routine. Personally, I like to stretch before and after a work out for two reasons.
The first reason is because I have learned that there are several Yoga postures that are geared towards increasing your energy levels. In order to make my workouts longer before starting I'll stretch; specifically the Sun Salute because it is known to help boost your stamina.
The reason why I stretch again afterwards is to help maintain a reasonable level of energy and to ensure that my workout doesn't take a toll on my body. The second set of stretching I do allows me to continue on through out the day with a fresh start. After my regular workout routine I'll stretch with some balance postures and I'll also stretch out whatever muscles/limbs are aching the most.
